Sara C. Royster

Ms. Royster’s practice is largely focused on regulatory compliance in the banking industry, particularly residential lending and loan servicing governed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Ms. Royster is also experienced in estate planning and probate.

Biography

Before Ms. Royster joined Frederic Dorwart, Lawyers PLLC in December 2013, she practiced for 7 years at Jones, Gotcher & Bogan, P.C. in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she primarily focused on commercial litigation. While at the University of Tulsa College of Law, Ms. Royster was a traveling member of both the ATLA and NTC trial teams. She also was Executive Editor of the Tulsa Journal of Comparative and International Law. Her comment, The Free Trade Area of the Americas: Is There Still a Place for the World Trade Organization? was selected for publication.
Ms. Royster currently serves on the board of directors for the Oklahoma Attorneys Mutual Insurance Company (“OAMIC”). Ms. Royster previously held board positions with Street School, Inc. (where she also served as a mentor), the University of Tulsa College of Law Alumni Board, the Tulsa Downtown branch of the YMCA, and the Tulsa Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Her other interests include running, tennis, chasing after two toddler boys, and fantasy football.

Representative Recent Engagements

  • Advising banks on matters governed by RESPA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, and other consumer protection regulations.
  • Representing banks in consumer and mortgage-related litigation.
  • Advise and participate in regulatory examinations by the OCC and CFPB.
  • Prepare enterprise-wide policies and procedures to facilitate bank compliance with consumer protection law.
