 Steven M. Kobos

Mr. Kobos is a business lawyer with over 25 years of broad experience in finance, litigation, and transactional matters.  His current practice concentrates on  complex  energy and infrastructure development projects, LNG shipping, floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), chartering of vessels, shipbuilding contracts, operational agreements, and related project  finance and tax matters.  Mr. Kobos has played a lead role in negotiations for EPC contracts for construction of floating regasification import terminal infrastructure, chartering FSRUs for use as LNG importation terminals, and negotiations for related services and equipment procurement in the Middle East, Asia, South America, Europe, and the United States.   He also advises clients on maritime law, project financing, entity selection and organization, and equipment procurement issues related to domestic and international projects and transactions.  In addition, he represents clients in banking and fiduciary matters.

  • Agreements for long term charter to Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. of newbuild FSRU for LNG importation and regasification facility at Guanabara Bay, Brazil.

  • Shipbuilding contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co, Ltd for construction of world’s largest FSRU.

  • Agreements for long term extension of vessel-based LNG regasification facility in Bahia Blanca, Argentina.

  • Agreements for long term charter of FSRU to ENARSA-YPF-Proyecto GNL Escobar-Unión Transitoria De Empresas for vessel-based LNG regasification facility in Escobar, Argentina.

  • Agreements for long term charter of FSRU to Kuwait National Petroleum Company for vessel-based LNG regasification facility at Mina Al Ahmadi, Kuwait and for construction of shore side facilities

In 1990 Mr. Kobos received his J.D., with highest honors, from the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, the President of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, and the recipient of the Oklahoma Bar Association Outstanding Student Award. Mr. Kobos has served as an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Tulsa.
